Changes to the Hair
The hair shaft consists of layers of proteins, or keratins, and protective oils. When the hair dye is put in, the oils in the hair shaft have to be partially removed and the keratins have to be softened, so that it’ll accept the hair dye. These changes make the hair shaft dry and brittle, which can lead to split ends and other such damage.
